Meet Rebecca
Speech and Language Therapist
Hi!
I qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2022 and have since worked with children, young people and their families across a variety of settings, including early years, mainstream primary and secondary schools, specialist resource provisions, and care settings for young adults with complex communication needs. Much of this experience has been gained through my employed role with another speech and language therapy service.
Before becoming a Speech and Language Therapist, I worked as a teaching assistant in a primary school and as a support worker on autism leisure schemes. These experiences gave me so much insight into supporting children and young people in different environments and helped shape how I work today.
Recently becoming a mum has reignited my interest in early speech and language development. Like many parents, I’ve experienced just how valuable clear, practical advice can be. I have particular skills in supporting:
-
Early communication skills (think late talkers and toddlers)
-
Communication support for autistic children and young people
-
Parents to build communication-enhancing strategies into everyday life
My private practice is intentionally focused on the areas where I have particular experience and expertise, allowing me to provide high-quality, personalised support within my scope of practice.
My approach
I created The SALT Coach because I believe families should have access to practical, evidence-informed support when they need it most, not months later. Parents are so well placed to support their child’s communication at home because so much communication development happens through everyday interactions. When parents are supported to understand their child’s communication needs and have the right strategies and guidance, they can confidently build communication opportunities into the things they already do every day.
Wherever possible, I focus on empowering parents rather than simply working directly with children. This means giving you the knowledge, strategies and confidence to support your child between sessions and beyond therapy. It can also make support more accessible and affordable, as the strategies become part of everyday family life rather than relying solely on regular therapy sessions.
I am passionate about getting to know each individual I support and tailoring therapy around their strengths, interests and goals. In my experience, the most meaningful progress happens when therapy is motivating, practical and focused on what matters most to the individual and their family.
I offer personalised assessment and therapy, parent coaching, affordable workshops and free communication tips on Instagram (@thesaltcoach).
