Editable Communication Passport for Your Child

Sending your child to nursery or school can be nerve-wracking at the best of times. If your child has difficulties communicating, starting in a new setting can bring even more worry and uncertainty.
I’ve created this editable communication passport for parents and carers of children who communicate in lots of different ways. It gives your child’s new education setting quick, accessible information to help them understand how your child communicates, what they need, what they enjoy, and who they are.
You can personalise the passport with your child’s photo, how they communicate, what they like, things they might say or do and what these mean, as well as the things that help them to communicate.
The passport includes suggested options to get you started. Simply edit, delete or add to these so that the information reflects your individual child.
Please note:
This resource is an editable PowerPoint file. You will need Microsoft PowerPoint or PowerPoint for web to personalise it.
Once you have completed the passport, you can save or export it as a PDF to share with your child’s nursery, childminder, school, family members, or anyone else who supports them.
Print the passport to create a handy mini-booklet. I recommend printing with two slides per page, then cutting the pages out and putting them together to create a small, easy-to-share passport.
